Our work in Desab, Haiti

SEED traveled to Desab Haiti in March 2017 to install a solar energy system on the medical clinic.

Life is difficult for the people in Desab.  There is no electricity, no running water, and very little vegetation in this high mountainous region.

The medical clinic in Desab is the only place for people to go for treatment.   The clinic is only open one day a week and there is usually a long line of people waiting to see the limited staff.

We went to Desab in 2017 to install a solar energy system on the clinic.  Until then the clinic had been operating with no electricity.   Imagine going to see a doctor and there were no lights in the office!?

We assessed the situation and designed a system to provide power for lights, fans, and refrigerators to keep medicine cold.  In 2017 we traveled to Desab.  We wired the clinic with light fixtures, fans, and we brought a super-efficient DC refrigerator.  We installed a 1,000 watt solar array to keep everything powered.    We are proud of our work there but there is much more we can do to help the people of Desab.

They currently have to walk an hour to get water. There is still no light or electricity in the school. We are going to continue to support the village and try to make it into an environmental, sustainable example that other villages can follow and replicate.

The following Facebook albums and Youtube videos tell the story of our recent trip.
