2012 Solar installation on a school in Duchity, Haiti

In 2012, SEED director Gary Beckwith traveled to Duchity, Haiti to install a solar energy system on a vocational school.

The Duchity Vocational School is essential to the people of the area, it teaches important job skills and helps enable people to stay in the area instead of having to move to the big city for school and jobs.

The solar energy system was installed as the school was being built. It provides electricity for light, laptop computers, phone charging, and more. In 2019 SEED will return to the school to add more solar panels and replace the batteries because the school is now in full operation with more electrical needs. The photos and videos linked below document the 2012 trip, which was SEED’s first trip to Haiti.
